Radical softness

This summer The NewBridge Gallery is platforming ‘Abundance’, an immersive new installation by artist and choreographer Lizzie Klotz, designer Bethany Wells, and a host of collaborators from NewBridge’s Neighbourhood Programme.

Building upon the success of an intergenerational touring dance work, the NewBridge Gallery has been reimagined using duvets: objects of intimacy, rest, and transformation. Moving from the temporal nature of live performance to a space of enduring presence, ‘Abundance’ invites visitors to linger, or to walk through, or to lie down, or to rest within this soft, sculptural environment. Beneath the stillness lie deeper currents: echoes of the effort and fatigue held within the material, fostering a space that is both tender and weighted. Featuring text-based “scores” that invite physical responses, the exhibition is a participatory invitation to connect, reflect, and embrace the power of resting together.
