This sophomore album from Manchester alt-rock outfit False Advertising is their first full-length release in six years and sees the band play with a more expansive sound, while still keeping in touch with their grungy roots. The Sorry Window is reminiscent of what you’d catch on Kerrang in the noughties: melodic riffs, fuzzy bass and a charismatic vocalist delivering sharp lines about unrealised ambition. Despite this nostalgia, there’s something undeniably fresh about False Advertising and the way their music feels like a venting of frustrations rather than a collection of meticulous arrangements. This raw, messy approach to songwriting is becoming a lost art. LT
