labyrinthine oceans - for the flesh and for the machine

For me, labyrinthine oceans are one of the most exciting acts to have come out of Newcastle, and this latest EP takes things to a whole new level. The band have expanded their signature blend of grunge and gaze into a worldbuilding ability that makes ‘for the flesh and the machine’ feel like it could be a soundtrack for a gloomy, apocalyptic film. Hypnotic, ambient soundscapes weave in and out of soulful yet distorted guitar melodies, crashing percussion and stirring bass lines, while Julia O’Neil-Walton’s vocals seamlessly transition from soft and airy, to a ferocious growl. Insane work for a band so early in their career. LT

Out now, self release
