Initialize is celebrating its 20th anniversary this June with a party to end all parties at the Middlesbrough Empire (legal note: it probably won’t end all parties).

Cast your mind back 20 years. There was no social media to speak of, Donald Trump was spending most of his time playing golf (plus ça change), and Initialize was setting up shop on a Thursday night in the estimable Purple Onion bar in Middlesbrough. Since then, this long-running club night has become a regional mainstay, with many of the original faces still showing up at each and every party. Their twentieth anniversary bash will feature two rooms, with the Main Room filled with Makina classics all night. There will also be a Northern Linkz Room that will be thrumming with the cream of local talent. We can’t mention all the DJs lined up to grace the decks on the night, but don’t miss Belgian maestro System D, and slammin’ musical alchemist DJ Richard (pictured). They will be playing alongside the likes of Konik & Maxter, Juan Cruz, and Del Pino Bros. MCs on the night will include talent such as Stompin, Scotty Jay and Tazo. GM
