Macedonian born Jova Radevska (vocals/lyrics) and London’s Mark Vernon (music) make up YOVA and their third album concerns itself with self-empowerment, healing and spiritual fulfilment – which may sound a bit wishy-washy, but the cinematic sounds that Vernon manages to conjure up dovetail perfectly with Radevaka’s flickering vocal. The songs are really catch-your-heart-in-your-mouth stuff, too, and they get a bonus point for a beautiful rendition of The Velvet Underground’s ‘Pale Blue Eyes’. GM
