Love sucks!
Claudia is a woman consumed by the never-ending trauma of split ends. As soon as she cuts one off, another strand of hair splits elsewhere on her head. But when she falls in love a vacuum cleaner – an actual vacuum cleaner – things really take a turn for the bizarre. This highly inventive piece comes courtesy of Claudia Shnier, a multi-disciplinary performer, writer, director and sound designer, and with ‘Split Ends’ she’s exploring ideas around control and abusive power disguised as love. Amping up the physical theatre, puppetry and use of multi-media, it’s a show that serves up one of the most remarkable theatrical nights out you’re liable to have all year.
Split Ends, Wednesday 13 & Thursday 14 May, Alphabetti Theatre, Newcastle, 7.30pm, £15 (concessions £7.50), alphabettitheatre.co.uk
