North Shields’ biggest wave

The fourth ‘A Stone’s Throw’ festival is taking over the coastal town for one day in May. And that line-up? It’s pure chef’s kiss.

On headline duties this year are two up and coming acts who are among the most exciting in the UK today. I’m talking Luvcat who are led by the charismatic Sophie Morgan. This bunch exude gothic glamour and high-stakes theatricality and they’ve already caught the ear of the likes of Sabrina Carpenter who had them support her when she played Hyde Park. I’m also talking Working Men’s Club, the indie-electronic Manc juggernauts who are one of the most thrilling new acts to emerge in recent years. Elsewhere on the bill do not miss special guests Panic Shack (pictured). These Welsh rabble rousers deliver pop-punk that is both pointed and playful, and their live sets knock it out of the park. The line-up also includes Belfast mega-risers Chalk (blending the grit of post-punk with the relentless energy of club-ready techno), thrilling singer-songwriter Gia Ford, incandescent alt-popper Imogen and the Knife, and North Shields’ very own, and very brilliant, Hector Gannet. Venues include The Exchange 1856, King Street Social Club, Salt Market Social, Three Tanners Bank and The Engine Room (a Go North East bus service – included in the ticket price – will be running between venues) and that full line-up (featuring up to 40 acts) can be gleaned from the website, below.
