Laugh yourself inside out

The ‘Washy Comedy Festival’ is coming to – where else? – Washington this May with a line-up that is packing more funnies than a clown’s pocket.

And topping the bill at this year’s hootfest is the redoubtable Matt Reed who is bringing his fabulous ‘Stalked’ show our way. Blending tension, absurdity and paper-cut sharp humour, his deep dive into the surreal reality of being relentlessly pursued by an over-enthusiastic fan is absolutely not to be missed. We also love Elaine Robertson (pictured), and her latest show ‘Delulu’ sees her exposing the fine line between confidence and complete fantasy. The show was Robertson’s first solo show at the Edinburgh Fringe and it saw her scooping the ISH Edinburgh Fringe Panel Prize. Also on the bill is rising comedian Kerris who will deliver ‘Getting On’, a glorious melange of theatre and stand-up which charts the obstacles she’s experienced in her journey to the stage. Lee Kyle is bringing his ‘Giant Comedy Show for Families Who Aren’t Boring’ to the festival – perfect fare for parents and kids alike who don’t mind family entertainment with a bit of edge. Oh, and I must mention the Babes in the Wood Comedy Club. This is stand-up for adults who won’t be chucked out if they bring a baby. The club will even have toys and squashy mats. Sold! JL
