Only here for the Beer

The legendary Back to Basics club night is coming to Sunderland this May with founder Dave Beer on decks.

While other “superclubs” like Gatecrasher or Ministry of Sound became corporate brands, Basics stayed “basic”. It won countless awards (including “Cainer of the Year” for Dave Beer) and even collaborated with Opera North for a 25th-anniversary symphonic show in Leeds’ Millennium Square. Dave Beer remains one of the most colourful characters in dance music, a man whose passport occupation once officially read “Purveyor of Good Times”, and he will be joined by Graeme Clark, former resident DJ of the Middlesbrough Arena (and very nearly a Basics resident himself). The pair have been friends for thirty-plus years, but this is the first time they’re uniting for one very special night.
