Prepare to be enchanted – and perhaps cover your ears – as the Olivier Award-nominated comedy ‘Glorious!’ arrives at the Darlington Hippodrome this May.

Celebrating its 20th anniversary, Peter Quilter’s hit play tells the incredible true story of Florence Foster Jenkins, the 1940s New York socialite who became a musical sensation despite being “the worst singer in the world”. The production stars the versatile Wendi Peters (Coronation Street, Hetty Feather) as the indomitable Florence who was known for her flamboyant costumes and total lack of rhythm or pitch, and was blissfully – one might say, gloriously – convinced of her own talent. The story follows her journey from private recitals to her legendary, sell-out performance at Carnegie Hall, defying critics and capturing the hearts of thousands who loved her for her sheer enthusiasm and joy. Joining Peters is Matthew James Morrison (EastEnders) as her long-suffering yet loyal accompanist, Cosmé McMoon. This production is more than just a comedy – it’s a tribute to the power of following your dreams regardless of what the world thinks. JL
