Anarchy in the East End

The Ewan Brown Newcastle Anarchist Bookfair marks its fifth anniversary this May at the Star and Shadow. Hats aloft!

First up, you should know that the Anarchist Bookfair is so much more than a bookfair. Yes, there are books – some that may or may not have a picture of Karl Marx slapped on the front – but there are also stalls, workshops, art and plenty of live music too. Organised entirely by volunteers and supported through community donations, the bookfair remains committed to accessibility, inclusivity, and collective empowerment. Attendees can expect a vibrant space for discovering new anarchist literature and the chance to connect with local groups. You can also take part in discussions and performances that champion solidarity and social justice. As mentioned above, this is the fifth year that the bookfair has been held and it continues to grow as a hub for radical ideas and community building. If you fancy imagining, and, hey, creating a better world, then get yourself along.
