Originally from Nova Scotia – but now based in Consett – this duo (Janet Mills and David Farrell) play the kind of rootsy folk that, despite its stripped back nature, feels full of body. That’s down the warmth of their sound, their beautiful harmonies, and a storytelling style that has you hanging on every word. It’s a sound that draws deeply from the best of bare-bones Americana, with touches of Kacey Musgrave-like country, and it all adds up to one of those lean-in-close albums in which every song feels timeless.
