Rogues & Vagabonds, the lot of them

Over the spring months, kids are being given the chance to embrace their inner outlaw when Rogues & Vagabonds take over Newcastle Castle.

Thieves. Tricksters. Vagabonds. They’ve all skulked around Newcastle at one time or the other (and I’m not just talking about Mike Ashley). And this new venture at Newcastle Castle dives into the darker, more eccentric side of the city’s history, revealing gripping tales of crime, punishment and survival. The Great Hall has been transformed into a courtroom; the medieval Gaol explores justice and incarceration; and visitors will be invited to step into the story themselves. Children can become a Newcastle Castle Rogue by creating an outlaw alias while taking on a series of fun, roguish challenges throughout the castle. Along the way, they’ll uncover extraordinary stories, meet notorious characters, learn about the Newcastle witches, and experience the castle as it has never been seen before – bold, mischievous and full of intrigue.

‘Rogues & Vagabonds’ runs at Newcastle Castle until June. It’s free with an annual pass. More booking info from: newcastlecastle.co.uk
