On her Todd

The award-winning photographer Debbie Todd is having her first solo show at Bishop Auckland Town Hall.

The exhibition was specially commissioned for the venue and brings together two bodies of work presented in publicly accessible spaces. ‘The Meaning of Being Different’ will be displayed on a large wall in the library (the former gallery), exploring identity, difference and belonging. ‘Extra Ordinary’ will be installed in the historic Strong Room next door and coincides with Down Syndrome Awareness Day on 21 March, highlighting themes of disability, visibility, and inclusion. Working in a fine art style, she collaborates closely with marginalised communities - particularly those from working-class backgrounds - to tell authentic stories that encourage empathy, inclusion, and fairer representation.
