Harry Speakup - Alphabetical Order
These Newcastle based rabble-rousers could start a party in an empty room with their glorious melange of sounds which take in everything from scuzzed up rock and roll to twangy alt country to slap-happy punk. Their new album is all kinds of fantastic, sounding like The White Stripes playing with a box of aural fireworks. Their poppy hooks are as big as the moon; their vibe is very much “let your hair down”; and even their slower tracks (‘Lonely Town’) have a woozy quality that is utterly intoxicating. They also get a bonus point from me for referencing Sgt. Bilko in their name (if you know, you know). RM
