That Clare - Social Konstrukt
This Teesside lass takes synthwave and filters it through the kind of post-punky filter that gives her a significant amount of edge. She also knows how to pen a really killer tune as evidenced by ‘Coders’, which sounds like Depeche Mode taking a trip round the block with Everything But The Girl. She can also do tender (‘Hold My Hand’ speaks of the pitfalls of showing affection in public – That Clare is a trans woman) as well as abrasive, political and defiant (‘That Other’ which kicks off “They punch down, I feel the heat / Coughed up by those on Tufton Street”). A bracing, vital release that you definitely need in your life. DP
