The Kid LAROI is at his strongest on BEFORE I FORGET, putting a melancholic spin on the R&B genre with 15 vulnerable tracks. More often than not, a high-profile breakup album becomes more about the drama than the music, but this is a welcome exception. BEFORE I FORGET is a deep dive into the confronting emotional turmoil that comes with the end of a relationship. Hazy electronic melodies and laidback beats leave plenty of room for the raw honesty of the lyrics to breathe, with The Kid LAROI giving some impressive vocal performances given that he’s largely known as a rapper.
