21 bum salute

‘Bottoms’ is the first UK solo exhibition by Sunderland born based artist-photographer, printmaker and researcher Dean Raymond Gooch. See it at the NGCA this February.

Apparently the new show at the NGCA contains mild nudity and adult themes – which mean I’m mostly definitely on board. It showcases a new series of large photographic works, screenprints and risography prints exploring gay identity, communities and fetish through striking imagery drawing on legacies of pop art, advertising and fashion photography. Googh plays on the age-old association of the bum in gay culture, be it through physical desire, sexual preference, or derogatory slang terms. And – at the end of the day – who doesn’t love a bum…?
