This is the fourth album from the Tuareg desert blues innovators from Algeria, and this time they’ve introduced electronic textures to their sound, as well as a newfound intimacy. It’s a release that saw local artists and friends join the sessions, resulting in clapping, echoing voices and a sense of a shared space as the band fuse ancient poetry with rhythm and funk, psychedelia, and a pan-African groove. The result is an album that feels fresh but also timeless. GM
