Ella Eyre - everything, in time

everything, in time allows Ella Eyre to steer away from the ‘dance hit guest vocalist’ box she is often reduced to, into jazzier territories that are a little Winehouse-esque. The album’s blend of pop and soul perfectly complements Eyre’s trademark husky vocals, which have adapted a grittier feel that fits well with the new genres she’s exploring. The lyrics are the weakest part of these tracks for me, often sticking to cliché, surface-level quips about “red flags” and a “quarter-life crisis” that don’t quite fit the gravity of her voice or the rich influences of the music. However, it’s great to see Eyre carve out her own musical identity here. LT
