Dig yer fishnets out…

Richard O’Brien’s legendary rock ‘n’ roll musical The Rocky Horror Show is back in the north-east once again this January – specifically The Sunderland Empire.

Can 35 million theatregoers really be wrong? (Answer: no they can’t.) That’s how many people have seen The Rocky Horror Show down through the years and that total will go up by a few thousand by the time the scantily clad extravaganza leaves Sunderland this January. The gist? Brad and his fiancée Janet breakdown outside a creepy mansion while on their way to visit their former college professor. They knock at the door and meet the charismatic Dr Frank-n-Furter. It’s then that all manner of fun, frolics, frocks and frivolity ensue. Altogether now: It’s just a jump to the left.

The Rocky Horror Show, 19-24 January, Sunderland Empire, 8pm (Fri & Sat 5pm & 8.30pm), from £15, atgtickets.com/venues/sunderland-empire
