Local: Dolder

Dolder are Dani and Zara Dolder, twin sisters from Newcastle who have been turning plenty of heads recently with their harmony-dunked alt-pop.

And one of the heads that Dolder has been turning is that of Little Mix’s Perrie Edwards, who, on hearing a track of theirs, frothed: “I need this injected into my veins!” Dolder only released their debut EP on 12 December and among the tracks it contains are ‘Girl I Know’, a gorgeous slice of stripped back, strummy pop, that puts their sparkling vocals up front and centre. It also features ‘Charlie’ – their first single – which is a beautiful, harmonious ballad that hits every sweet spot you’d care to mention. The 21-year-olds grew up immersed in classic 60s and 70s sounds (think: The Beatles, Eagles, Steely Dan and Glen Campbell) and that certainly shows in their songwriting nous, and their way with a melody, but they marry that to a modern female sensibility, the kind of which you’ll find in HAIM, boygenius and Lola Young. The pair recently supported Ben Ellis, and are set to announce further live dates soon, so jump on board and catch one of the fastest rising acts in the region. DP
