New year, new you

Hut on the Green in Gosforth (pictured) is the place you need to head if you fancy trying your hand at something new in 2026. From woodwork to printing to dress making, they’ve got you covered.

Since launching in 2024, Hut on the Green has gone from strength to strength. It’s run by a dedicated bunch who believe in the power of creativity to bring people together; to inspire, and to make a difference. It’s more than just a space, it’s become a community, a place where hands and minds come together to make, learn and share. From arts to crafts to horticulture to other creative pursuits, they cover plenty of bases. In January alone they’re running classes such as ‘Introduction to Acrylics’, ‘Introduction to Oil Paints’, ‘Life Drawing’, ‘Introduction to Watercolour’, ‘Intermediate Watercolour’, ‘Get Started with Drawing’, ‘Introduction to Dressmaking’, ‘Intermediate Photography’ and ‘Woodpeckers’ (a fun and hands-on weekly club designed to teach children the skills of woodworking and making). Also look out for ‘Introduction to Lino Printing’, ‘Drawing with Mixed Media’ and the ever-popular wooden stool making sessions. Full details on all the above – and more – from the website, below.
