Frankie say…

This pic is of the wondrous Frankie Archer who is playing a gig in Sunderland this January along with ATFK (and if that pic could talk, I’d reckon she’d say: “Come along to see this show as I reckon it’ll be the best thing you do all month).

Well! This is going to be all kinds of amazing! Frankie Archer was the recipient of our Single Of The Month a few months back for her track ‘The Demon Lover’ – an alt-folky incantation that robbed me of my very breath. She deftly combines her background in Northumbrian roots music with her deep love of electronic music to thrilling effect. Jools Holland is also on board – she’s been on his show – and he called her stuff “extraordinary” (he’s correct) and Archer has also been bigged up by the likes of The Guardian, NME and Clash magazine. She also received TV play for her Glastonbury set. At this gig, you’ll hear her as you never have before with synth queen Amy Thatcher and drum maestro Francesca Knowles also along for the ride. This pair – who go by the name ATFK – really wowed us with their latest album ‘Repeat For Joy’, which was a raucous delight. So I’ve got no hesitation in shouting: “Quick! Sound the Gig Of The Month klaxon!” DP
