Social Youth Cult - The Lighthouse
This post-punky Newcastle band have been garnering rare praise on the goth scene over the last year or two and they’ve backed up all that early promise with a debut album that is packing more dark delights that a bar of Green & Black’s 85% Cocoa. They reference early Bauhaus in their press release, and that’s certainly on the money, but they also know how to hit a dank groove that works on listeners like an incantation, pulling you inexorably into their world. It’s a world of vast sonic chambers that stretch far into the distance, and a world that you should definitely pay a visit to. DP
