Celeste’s debut album Not Your Muse is a tough act to follow - it rocketed to No 1 on charts and received a whole lot of acclaim. Taking time to write album two was a sensible choice, as it has resulted in nine thoughtful tracks that are meant to be savoured. It is melancholy in tone, heavy with the gravity of themes like societal pressure, the dark side of technology and the aftermath of heartbreak. Celeste’s jazzy inflections pair beautifully with sweeping orchestral sounds, creating a sound that is decadent yet vulnerable.
