Wood ya? Could ya?

Newcastle Wood Recycling is a not-for-profit social enterprise on a mission to divert wood from the local waste stream while creating inclusive opportunities for employment, training and volunteering in the community.

Newcastle Wood Recycling collect waste from construction sites, businesses, and households across the region, to give it a second life, and the timber they salvage is transformed into beautiful, handcrafted furniture and woodwork for homes, gardens and businesses. They also offer affordable reclaimed timber for DIY projects and firewood for local households. Their yard is home to a growing collective of independent makers who share their environmental and social values, and together they’re building a space that celebrates creativity, community and circular economy principles. It’s an enterprise that’s proud to be part of a national movement tackling waste, unemployment, and social isolation – one plank at a time. So, if you’re a business with waste wood, a potential volunteer, or a supporter who believes in what they do – they’d love to hear from you.

Newcastle Wood Recycling, Welbeck Road, Newcastle. Their shop is open Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, 10am-3pm. You can also browse the shop online and find out more about everything they do from: welovewood.org
