Here is Kylver recreating, what very much looks like, that Homer Simpson hedge gif. But no need to hide lads! You’ve got a fab new album to talk about.

This very excellent Newcastle four-piece create monumental soundscapes, untethered by time and space, that make all other instrumental bands appear rather weedy. Their dovetailing of guitar, bass, drums and Hammond organ is flawless, coaxing their tunes to climb inexorably into your soul, your brain, your very being. They’re not afraid to get all doomy on your ass either, but they also pull in elements of melodic rock and out-there post-rock as fits the mood. Their new album ‘The Gobi’ (released 14 November) is, naturally, a concept album inspired by the desert landscape of The Gobi and the myths that surround it. Four tracks long, the album unfurls with plenty of cinematic dash, deftly taking in sweeping sonic vistas, shifting moments of calm, and riffs that conquer all before them. The band already have two previous albums under their belts ‘The Mountain Ghost’ (2015) and ‘The Island’ (2016), plus 2023’s live opus ‘the Plague Tapes’, and ‘The Gobi’ can join those other releases in being filed under ‘Absolutely Essential’.
