Expectations are lofty for this new release from The Last Dinner Party, after they scooped up two Brits in the year of their debut. Fortunately, they more than deliver with this feast of delicious harmonies, well-crafted hooks, inventive songwriting and just the right amount of eccentricity. Flavours of baroque, stoner rock, country and goth pop weave in and out of 10 tracks that are grandiose and complex, but never feel like they’re doing too much. The Last Dinner Party have mastered maximalism in music, and the fact that they’ve done so two albums in a row promises a very exciting career ahead for this five piece. LT
