Tart: Misadventures of an Anonymous Chef
Tart was born out of ‘sluttycheff’, an Instagram account through which an anonymous chef punctuates steamy sexual anecdotes with photos of food. I’d followed her for a while before discovering she was releasing a memoir. Despite my apprehension about the jump from influencer to published writer, I devoured this debut. It follows Slutty Cheff’s journey from a mundane office job to working in the chaos of male-dominated kitchens across London. Nail-biting food services, hearty love stories, and thrilling sexual escapades are told with unique honesty, brilliant euphemisms, and delicious wit that perhaps her anonymity grants her. This book ultimately feels like a love letter to pleasure, be it in the kitchen, in the bedroom, or on a fork, and although we don’t know her identity, I certainly know how refreshing it feels to read about a woman indulging herself in the best parts of life.
