Skimming off the cream
Since 2007, the charity Skimstone Arts has had a mission to support diverse artists and communities and those at risk of social isolation to create work with, for, and about the world that matters to them. And as they come to the end of their incredible 18-year journey of working with amazing regional, national and international artists, arts projects and communities, they’re throwing a party that will be bountiful with good stuff. Skimstone will be celebrating as many of the performances, films and exhibitions that the Star & Shadow can host, as they take over the whole venue for the day. There will be live performances and music galore from bands and artists, workshops, exhibitions and talks, a film shorts programme, delicious food, and also the chance to have your say on Skimstone’s work. What else will be going on? The launch of a specially created zine? Reality Boots’ final album? A Skimstone album featuring poems and songs? The Upstartz second EP? Yep – all that and much more besides. JL
Skimstone Arts Celebration Party, Friday 14 November, Star & Shadow, Newcastle, 2-9.30pm, free tickets and more info from: skimstone.org.uk
