The Crack Magazine

Local: Goodnight Kid

This bunch of north-east rabble-rousers only came to our attention earlier this year, but they’ve already leapt up our ‘Ones To F-ing Watch’ league table with astonishing speed.

It was only in May that we got to hear Goodnight Kid’s debut ‘House (With A Balcony)’ and if you’re partial to a bit of emo-alt-rock then it was manna from heaven. A supremely confident slab of hook-heavy guitar pop the single spoke of a band that had arrived seemingly fully formed. They followed that with ‘Rabbit’ in August and that’s another single that displays Goodnight Kid’s extravagant way with a melody. It’s a track that mixes up shades of light and dark and has a chorus that would send any mosh-pit to heaven and back. The four-piece – say “Hi!” to Khyle (vocals), Jackson (guitars), John (guitars) and Rhys (drums) – have already had support from the likes of BBC Introducing, Future Hits Radio, Apple Music and more and they will be seizing the moment when they bang out a debut 6-track EP at the back end of November.
