Get up for Getdown Services

Josh Law and Ben Sadler make up Bristol’s Getdown Services, a duo worth getting very excited about. They’ve got gigs in Stockton and Sunderland this November.

Getdown Services have carved out a unique and compelling niche in the contemporary music scene, largely by turning the mundane and frustrating aspects of modern British life into a jubilant, often danceable party. The pair masterfully fuse elements of disco, post-punk, and electronic music with a deadpan lyrical delivery. Their genius lies in their ability to satirize the absurdities of the 21st century—from greedy landlords and overpriced coffee to the sheer drudgery of work—while simultaneously making you want to move your feet. Vocalist Josh Law's stream-of-consciousness observations are a key component of their appeal. His lyrics are incredibly relatable and witty, delivered with a sense of genuine frustration and a wink of self-aware humour. This combines perfectly with Ben Sadler's dynamic production, which builds a foundation of infectious grooves and squelching synths that are impossible to ignore. In short: think Half Man Half Biscuit goes electronic. DP
