Girl to the front

The brainchild of multi-instrumentalist Sarah Cosgrove, Low Girl continue to generate buzz for their raw and relatable introspection with irresistibly catchy, dynamic indie-pop. They’re in Middlesbrough this November.

Fronted by Sarah Cosgrove, Low Girl has evolved from a solo project into a close-knit quartet. Their debut album ‘Is It Too Late To Freak Out?’ is a perfect calling card to showcase what they’re all about, which is embracing messiness and melancholy while introducing surprising sonic textures like horns, woodwinds, and grand piano into their sound. What makes them so exciting is this masterful balance: tender, vulnerable lyrics about complex themes (like OCD, family dynamics, and breaking up) paired with vibrant, exploratory soundscapes. Their songs can shift from colossal, soaring hooks over waves of distortion to atmospheric dream-pop, often in the same track. This dexterity, combined with a clear sense of purpose to turn "darker moments into something you feel like you've overcome”, make Low Girl an essential and cathartic listen: both an intimate shoulder to cry on and a defiant invitation to dance it out.
