That’s illustrator Josie Brookes who is one of the many fine artists affiliated with Mushroom Works who are just one of the arty venues throwing open their doors for the next Ouseburn Open Studios event.

Mushroom Works is one of the most highly regarded art studios in the north-east and this November their 16 studios will be open to the public where you can see work that includes furniture, leather, illustrations, paintings, jewellery, graphic design and sculpture. Feel free to drop in throughout the weekend and try your hand at printmaking or felt-making, and browse their gallery which will be stocked full of handmade goodies – all made and created in the building. There will also be free activities for kids, amazing food in their café from French Oven, and some new faces in the studios. (Mushroom Works are also having a preview night on Friday 28 November, 6-8pm). But Mushroom Works are just one of the many establishments taking part in the Ouseburn Open Studios weekend this year. The others include B.Box Studios, Biscuit Factory, Biscuit Tin, Jim Edwards Studio, Kelly Morgan Studio, 36 Lime Street, Northern Print and Wildflower Floral Studio. GM
