I’ve been a big CMAT fan since her debut, so it’s been great to see the Irish country-pop artist get her flowers lately. In EURO-COUNTRY, her songwriting peaks in a kaleidoscope of emotions that will have you giggling through one song, then tearing up at the next. Her razor-sharp wit and frank poeticism covers everything from Irish identity, patriarchal beauty standards and doomed relationships. It’s all delivered in the soulful yodel of her powerhouse vocals, which makes anything she writes sound heavenly (even a lament about her hatred of Jamie Oliver). Though country-pop is becoming a saturated market, no one does it quite like CMAT. LT
