Local lass Jade Mia Broadhead has won a following with incendiary singles such as ‘TERF Wars’ (Broadhead is a trans woman) but her debut album is a more personal, less obviously political release. Relationships are examined, past reminisces are raked over, and moods – both low and high – are prodded with a clear-eyed honesty. Sonically, this is folky but with a decidedly poppy and melodic heart, and the result is a rounded portrait of an artist with something to say and the means to say it. DP
