Låp it up!
One of my fave albums of the year is from Låpsley (‘I'M A HURRICANE I'M A WOMAN IN LOVE’) and she’ll be hitting us up with songs from it when she plays Newcastle this October.
Låpsley stands out as one of the most thrilling artists today due to her consistent artistic evolution and unique sonic explorations. From her early days of minimal, self-produced electronic tracks on SoundCloud, she quickly garnered attention for her ethereal vocals and introspective songwriting. What makes Låpsley truly exciting is her refusal to stagnate. She continually pushes boundaries, effortlessly blending genres from ambient and electronica to indie-pop, and even incorporating elements of dance and R&B. Her recent album ‘I'M A HURRICANE I'M A WOMAN IN LOVE’ demonstrates a newfound independence and a willingness to explore personal narratives with raw honesty. Låpsley’s artistry is not just about the captivating sounds she creates, but also the vulnerability and authenticity she brings to her lyrics, making her music resonate deeply with listeners and cementing her status as a truly dynamic force in contemporary music.
