Getting medieval on your ass
Newcastle Castle is one of the most atmospheric buildings on Tyneside, if not THE most atmospheric, but when darkness falls things tend to take a turn for the spooky – particularly in October. And in the run-up to Halloween (including Friday 31 October itself) the castle is holding two ghost tours that are sure to have the hairs on the back of your neck standing up and screaming “Oh my! Oh my! Oh my!” Because as you wander the echoing chambers, winding staircases and shadowy passageways, your trusty guide will unfurl for you the grizzly tales and sinister secrets that are hidden within these medieval walls. I’m talking brutal executions along with stories of crime and cruelty as the castle’s dark past is brought to light. From the haunted gaol to the Castle Keep roof, this will be a ghost tour like no other…
