Great Scott!

When Scott Turnbull plays ARC in Stockton this September, can you expect a certain amount of lo-fi animation? Yes you ruddy well can.

After he’s held a very well received residency at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this year (the Guardian saw fit to froth: “Eccentric, heartfelt and very funny”), this show in Stockton represents something of a homecoming for Scott Turnbull. The gist? As the clock strikes 11:20am, the fine line between reality and make-believe is tested, tampered with, and smashed wide open. Meaning? There will be music – oh yes! – along with poetry, two foxes that are romantically entwined, a vampire rabbit with a taste for travel, and other unexpected tales of love, death and everything in between. There will also be an old-fashioned overhead projector that will be key to bringing Turnbull’s lo-fi animations to life. Expect to be enthralled at this wonderfully weird comedy in which beautiful worlds are constructed via the medium of felt-tip pens. GM
