Pilgrim in Newcastle are running a regular series of club events each month and one of the most popular is the evergreen The Happening, which turns a Sunday into a funday.

The DJ driven afternoons/evenings/nights at Pilgrim (formerly Hoochie Coochie) are among the best you’ll find anywhere and I’m particularly partial to The Happening. Taking place on the last Sunday of each month, this event – the UK’s longest running afternoon soul shindig – sees Pilgrim’s finest spinning a knickbocker glory of a mix that includes the best stuff around. I’m talking Motown, northern, Philly, and more. The bonhomie The Happening exudes is among the best you’ll find anywhere (that’s soul fans for you) and with an early start and not too late finish, you can still be fresh on Monday morning. Sorted.
