Martin’s marvellous 80s
If you want a DJ to take you through all the best grooves that the 1980s had to offer then who better than Mr 1980s himself, Spandau Ballet’s Martin Kemp. He’s in Sunderland for two shows this September.
Martin Kemp has been going down a real storm at club gigs up and down the country since he decided to get himself behind the decks with his big box of danceable 1980s sounds. I just hope he doesn’t neglect to spin some of his own band’s early hits: New Romantic classics such as ‘Chant No. 1 (I Don’t Need This Pressure On)’. Hopefully he’ll also find room for a bit of Cameo, a bit of Janet Jackson, a bit of Diana Ross, a bit of Kool & The Gang, and a few deeper cuts. Should be good as supporting is World Headquarters’ Tommy Caulker.
Martin Kemp’s Ultimate 80s show, Friday 12 & Saturday 13 September, The Fire Station, Sunderland, 7pm, £29, thefirestation.org.uk
