Once, twice, three times a lady boy

Those uber-cheeky Lady Boys of Bangkok are back in Newcastle (and Whitley Bay) once again this September.

It’s September! Leaves are falling, coffees are getting a pumpkin style make-over, and those Lady Boys of Bangkok are getting ready to shake tushes like tushes have never been shook before. A long-running, and much loved, part of Tyneside’s autumnal cultural offering, these party starters are all glitz and glamour and their latest show – going by the name ‘Glow Up’ – is all about identity, ambition, and becoming who you are. They’ll flirt, they’ll tease, they’ll tempt, and they’ll also belt out some of the finest anthems ever written in a delicious new show that is naughty but ever so nice. They’ve got one date at Whitley Bay before they set up their lauded Sabai Pavilion in Newcastle. Said pavilion is their very own cabaret space with audience members seated around tables. It’s also well stocked with booze and you can also – if you fancy – tuck in to some freshly prepared Thai cuisine. Say it with me: The Lady Boys are back in Toon. DP

The Lady Boys of Bangkok: 5 September, Playhouse, Whitley Bay, 7.30pm, from £33.45; 12-27 September, Sabai Pavilion, Times Square, various times, from £15, ladyboysofbangkok.co.uk
