Isn’t that Jason Williamson?

Yes – that is indeed The Sleaford Mods frontman – and he’s starring in ‘Edgecity: Monologues from the street’, a new production coming to Live Theatre this September.

‘Edgecity: Monologues from the street’ has been penned by gobscure, an associate artist with Live Theatre, and each piece comes directly from gobscure’s own lived experience of living homeless across Britain. There will be six searing monologues in all – including ‘Mind The Reality Gap’, ‘Die like Chekhov’ and ‘Yu Can’t Start Revolutions Sitting on Yr Arse’ – and they will be read by a cast of three, including Jason Williamson, who will be accompanied by live music. Using stunning fragmentary language, gobscure has painted a picture of Britain from those on the very edge of society. Williamson, of course, has been hailed by many as one of the foremost frontmen of our age. Lyrically, he addresses the trials and tribulations of 21st UK living and does so with that ever so commanding voice of his. And you’ll be able to hear said voice – up close and personal – when he treads the boards in Newcastle this September. GM
