Fangs for the memories

‘Buffy Revamped’ tackles all seven seasons of ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ in just 75 minutes, which is the kind of supernatural feat I think all fans of the show can get behind. See it at The Tyne Theatre & Opera House this September.

‘Buffy Revamped’ absolutely slays, and of that, all critics seem to agree. It made its award-winning premiere at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2022 and then it returned in 2023 where it was the Best Reviewed Show. The British Theatre Guide slapped it with five-stars and declared it to be “A hilarious romp through Buffy’s life and times”, while EdFringeReview awarded it another five stars and frothed about its “infectious and joyful energy”. Created by comedian Brendan Murphy, the fast-paced, one-man production, squeezes 144 episodes into one rollicking night out. He of course is Spike (who better to tell the tale than someone who knows it inside out?) and he packs his performance with 90s pop-culture references and belly-laughs galore. If you never managed to enrol at Sunnydale High, then this is the closest you’re going to get. DP
