Bottled lightning

The fab Percy Jackson musical ‘The Lightning Thief’ is coming to the Theatre Royal in Newcastle this August on the back of some stellar reviews.

Since the first Percy Jackson novel was published twenty years ago, the phenomenon has shown no signs of slowing. Indeed, this new musical has received universally glowing reviews and, if anything, things in the Percy Jackson universe are getting even bigger. The gist? When 16-year-old Percy Jackson discovers that he is the half-blood son of the Greek God Poseidon, his life takes a dramatic turn as he is plunged into a world much bigger than he could possibly have imagined. Following a record-breaking run in London, this extravaganza is now coming to Newcastle for an epic adventure that will have you on the edge of your seat.

The Lightning Thief, 27-31 August, Theatre Royal, Newcastle, 7pm (Sunday 5pm. Mats Thurs & Sat 2pm and Sun 1pm), from £13, theatreroyal.co.uk
