Brought back to Life

Newcastle’s Life Science Centre have a new 360° immersive show that explores the story of life on Earth – and beyond…

For 25 years now, the Life Science Centre has continued to hit us up with incredible shows and exhibitions, and their latest is breathtakingly good. ‘Life: The Greatest Story’ – which can be seen inside the centre’s fulldome – is a 25-minute show that pushes the boundaries of fulldome film production, combining 3D animation with live action filming. Narrated by Alex Kingston (River Song from Doctor Who) it starts with a deep dive tour of the ocean floor to discover the earliest forms of life. The show then goes on to cover the evolution of plants, fungi and animals, panning through forest and lava landscapes before venturing into space to explore the big questions – does life exist elsewhere in the universe? And this show is just one part of Life’s summer programme, which includes new exhibition Lightbox featuring 14 hands-on interactive exhibits created by internationally recognised artists and specialists including a striking 8-metre-high moving string sculpture, and the interactive ‘Water Play’, created by BAFTA winning developers PRELOADED.
