Rival Consoles (aka UK producer Ryan West) has been one of the go-to movers and groovers when it comes to electronica, since the late 00s at least, and this – his ninth studio album – features some of his best work. It deftly straddles that line between fragmentary and cohesive with dashing aplomb, fizzy melodies bubbling to the fore throughout in ways that are surprising, original and pushing all manner of emotional buttons. It’s an album that contains multitudes, and much of it is utterly delightful. DP
