After a decade-long cycle of new music, tours and promotion left her burned out, cult indie-pop favourite MARINA is fresh from a hiatus and free from an oppressive contract. ‘PRINCESS OF POWER’ triumphantly marks her return with fantastical themes of divine femininity, self ownership, sensuality and confidence. Pulsing electro-pop beats and bouncing baselines combine with the melodrama of her iconic soprano to create the ultimate femme-energy anthems of the summer. Yet amongst all the noise, she’s still able to strip things back and have vulnerable moments on slower tracks like ‘ADULT GIRL’ and ‘EVERYBODY KNOWS IM SAD’. A well-rounded album with some of my favourite songs of 2025 so far. LT
