Gary Wight is a stalwart of the NE scene having once headed up 80s band Ill At Ease and 90s band Mojo Pep. He also formed jazz funk outfit Zubi and has released solo stuff too. In 2023 he was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease but decided to release one last solo album. And – wow! – it’s a real classy affair. From the smooth, Style Council vibes of ‘The Alchemist’ to the 3am soul of ‘Dead Man Walking’ to the fizzed up funk of ‘Bound By The Beat’, it’s a release packing multitudes.
